Bar dips are an awesome exercise for developing the triceps as well as the chest. Make sure to keep your elbows in when doing this exercise and avoid bouncing out of the bottom position. Control the decent, pause at the bottom and power up to the top.
By keeping the reps low and allowing sufficient rest you build muscle strength and density. By using med to higher reps with short rest between sets you create cumulative fatigue which creates muscle growth via (sarcoplasmic hypertrophy - increase of fluid in the muscle cells)
